There are many things anyone
can do to help at the Beverly Historical Society. We are proud of the quality work done by
our steadfast volunteer corps. We also provide opportunities for college students
seeking intern positions.

Here are some of our current Volunteer and Intern openings:
· Curatorial
Assistant/Intern -- The real reason most people get involved in museums is to
"get their hands on the stuff!" Here's your chance to learn from the pros
how to work with, handle, move, and research the collections of the Historical Society.
Join a group of volunteers and work on special projects, and exhibit setup. Help our
Curator catalog our extensive collection, and enter this data into our Past Perfect
computer system. This can be a regular or an occasional volunteer opportunity. This
position can also be applied as an Intern position for college students wishing to inhance
their curatorial and cataloging skills. Training provided by our Curator of
Collections. Call Darren at 978-922-1186 or e-mail at: dbrown@beverlyhistory.org
· Facilities
Assistant Like to play in the garden? The historical society has three
historic properties, including two with beautiful gardens in need of loving care. If you enjoy gardening come down and join the good
folks on our Facilities Committee, and dig in the dirt. This help will greatly reduce
professional landscaping costs. Call Darren
at 978-922-1186 or e-mail at: dbrown@beverlyhistory.org
· Library
Assistant -- Join a dedicated group of Beverly Historical Society volunteers and
help manage the library and archives. Process new acquisitions, re-shelve and
re-house library materials, and assist with other projects. This can be a regular or an
occasional volunteer opportunity. Call Darren at 978-922-1186. dbrown@beverlyhistory.org
· Research
Assistant -- Did you know that BHS&M volunteers and
staff process over 150 research requests each year? Researchers from all over the
world contact us by phone, mail, e-mail, and in person with research questions. A
background in New England history and/or genealogical research would be very helpful.
Volunteer researchers work with staff to answer questions and assemble research materials.
Training is provided. Our greatest need for volunteer support are on Wednesday
evenings (5 P.M. 9 P.M.) and Saturdays, (10 A.M. to 4 P.M.). Call Darren at
978-922-1186. dbrown@beverlyhistory.org
· Receptionist/Docent
-- This is an all-time favorite way to get to know your Historical Society better.
Daytime openings Tuesday through Saturday. Receptionists greet guests, answer
phones, register researchers, and give museum tours. They also provide light office
support to staff, assisting with mailings, photocopying, and data entry. This is a
regular volunteer opportunity, or you can be on-call to help as needed. Call Darren
at 978-922-1186. dbrown@beverlyhistory.org
